Hello
I am currently in Boracay until 2 week in December, we cannot fish on the island as anational park, but we are having trouble finding a guide who can take me out fihsing, I have my own gear from home, looking at fishing plastics and hard bodys More then happy to charter own boat for day or 2 and travel, just need some local knowlegde who understands what I need

Also heading to Cebu, Orman and the Bohol for a week as well, again same fishing style, so if you can suggest again would apprciate it

thanks again

Hi Ron, I was planning to go first week for November. Something came up and we have to go to Dagupan for the All Souls and All Saints day. I'll try to plan during the holiday season.. or when Cebu Pacific offers those piso fares again. :)

Hi gmajni,

It's great to know that you're interested in starting a charter here in the Philippines. That's good way to promote sport fishing and tourism a the same time.

I share your sentiments about how hard it is to search the net on any info regarding starting charter services. A few phone calls did not get me far either but I've gathered a few pointers.

<blockquote>
1. Register a trade name with DTI, Department of Trade and Industry.
2. If you're planning to setup a partnership or corporation, you will need to register your business with SEC, the Securites and Exchange Commission
3. If it will only be a single proprietor, you can proceed and get a clearance from the baranggay where your charter will it's station.
4. You will also need to get a Mayor's permit from the Office of the Mayor and Tax Identification Number from the local BIR, Bureau of Internal Revenue.
4. You will need to pay a visit to your local Bantay Dagat or Philippine Coast Guard office and probably register your fleet.
5. You may also need to visit the BFAR or Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for permits. Do tell them that you will not do commercial fishing but only leisure fishing.
</blockquote>

You may have a hard time getting the permits if you are not a Filipino Citizen, it may be better place the charter under your wife's name. :)

I'll get back to you again once I learn more..

Thanks again,

Jaime
